Five ways to explore the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a great destination for adventurous travellers.

Gorgeous canals, amazing tulip fields, incredible windmills, and so much more make this place a little heaven on earth. The Netherlands really does showcase the true beauty of nature, and adventurers shouldn’t miss it if they get the chance to go.

There are so many things to do in the Netherlands – you could move there and still find new and exciting things to do all the time. To get you started though, here are five ways to explore the Netherlands.

Enjoy the canals of Amsterdam

No travel post about the Netherlands would be complete without a mention of the stunning canals in Amsterdam. There are 165 canals to see, and there’s a good reason people flock to the city to see the waterways each year. Basically, it’s beautiful.

Get adventurous at Efteling Theme Park

There are many surreal experiences to be had in the Netherlands, but this suggestion is all about adventure. Efteling is the biggest amusement park, located in the Kaatsheuvel, and it’s divided into different zones and thrill levels. Rides like Joris en de Draak or the Baron 1898 shouldn’t be missed if you want some excitement and magic injected into your trip.

Explore by bike

The most brilliant thing about visiting the Netherlands is that you can pretty much rent a bike anywhere – and then around the corner, you’ll find a bicycle tour to go with it. You don’t have to do a tour, but it can be a wonderful way to explore the country in style. Go on a day trip to Madurodam

Madurodam is one of the things you should choose to do in the Netherlands even if you’re short on time. This is an amusement park based on the actual country at a scale of 1:25, and you’ll find all kinds of replicas like windmills, bridges, and other historical sites.

Head to Texel to do a parachute jump

Texel is the largest island in the Wadden Sea, and happens to be the best place to dive straight out of your comfort zone – literally. While jumping with a parachute in the clear sky, you’ll get a brand new perspective on your own life, and the Netherlands. You’ll have the chance to view the country from the sky, as well as enjoy an experience like nothing you could ever imagine. For true adventurers, this is an experience not to be missed.

Exploring the Netherlands is easy no matter what you choose to do, and the tips in this article should be enough to get you started on an exciting itinerary.
