Global travel may have been on hold for the last few months, but it won’t be forever (hopefully).
In the meantime, while we all wait for it to be safe to explore the world again, there are some things that you can do to satisfy the wanderlust.
Always wanted to start a travel blog? Now could be the time to lay the groundwork.
Why start a travel blog?
If you enjoy travelling, then it makes sense to document your travels. The easiest way to do this is through a travel blog. I mean, you’re on one right now, so you can see what it should look like.
Travel blogs let you share experiences with other people and look back on all of your amazing trips. It’s also a chance to engage with fellow travellers and get recommendations on where to go next or what you should see.
Still interested? Then here are some tips for starting your travel blogging journey.
Choose your approach
Some people approach travel blogs in certain ways. For example, your blog could be more about recounting your experience of a country. In that case, your posts would be about the things you saw, what you did, and what you’d recommend.
Then, you could include other posts that focus more on travel tips and guidance. Here, your posts wouldn’t be specific to different countries but would talk about any advice you have for packing, flying, etc.
Choose your approach wisely as it helps to formulate your articles and makes it a lot easier to come up with content ideas.

Use templates
When you start writing a blog for the first time, it’s a daunting experience. You don’t know how to structure anything or what your posts should look like.
Templates are a brilliant way of helping with this problem. As you can see on www.templafy.com, there are platforms out there that let you create specific templates for your documents. Set one up for your travel blog, and you’ll have a clear structure to follow with each article.
With a template, writing the posts is much easier as the foundations have been laid down. Think of it as building a chair with or without a diagram. It’s a lot easier when you have the diagram out in front of you and everything is clear to see.
Collect all your photos
For travel blogs, imagery is just as important as the words. They should complement one another, but travel photos will probably be the main attraction.
So, it’s time to get creative with your travel pictures. Take as many as you can, and be sure you edit them as well. You want them to look as professional as possible.
I would also recommend starting an Instagram page alongside your travel blog for all of the photos you take.
It’s impossible to post all of them in your articles, so this can be a digital photo album of sorts, that’s open to the public. You’ll soon find your Instagram page is the perfect accompaniment to your blog as it helps you draw in new readers.
What about the competition?
Yes, there are lots of travel blogs out there, but there’s also no such thing as too many travel blogs.
People go to different places and have different experiences. It’s always fun to see travel photos and get people’s opinions on travel destinations.
If you’re keen to start your travel blog, use these tips to get the ball rolling. Then when we can travel the world again you will ready.
