Spain is one of the most visited countries in the world every year.
With gorgeous cities, like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, it’s easy to see why it’s such an exciting destination. It’s a country full of stunning architecture and rich history, making city breaks highly popular.
However, it also boasts a beautiful coastline, leading to plenty of fantastic holiday destinations by the sea.
The Costa del Sol is one of those destinations. It’s also home to the exciting resort city of Marbella.
Thinking about visiting Marbella this year? Here’s a quick guide to help you on your way.
How to get there
Marbella doesn’t have its own airport, but there are plenty in and around the region.
The best way to get there is to fly into Malaga airport and get a transfer down to Marbella. You’ll find plenty of transport options at the airport as lots of people fly to Malaga specifically to go to Marbella.
Plus, as you can see on the map below, it’s a 35-minute drive to Marbella from the airport. You could even hire a car and drive there yourself.

Where to stay
The great news is that Marbella has no shortage of incredible places to stay. You’ll see plenty of hotels with great amenities and lots of luxury resorts.
If you want to make your visit extra special, consider renting a luxury apartment in Marbella for added privacy and peace of mind.
There are so many apartments to rent in the area and finding one with a sea view shouldn’t be a problem either.
What to do
Now, we move onto the big question: what can you do in Marbella?
Well, it’s more a question of what can’t you do. With a reputation as a party destination there are plenty of bars and restaurants to visit during your stay.
Then there are the fantastic beaches along the coastline that are well worth your time when the sun is out. In fact, many people come to Marbella to soak up the sun during the day and enjoy the nightlife in the evening.
It’s not all beaches and bars though. There are loads of other amazing sights and scenes in Marbella.
There’s a stunning Old Town district that looks gorgeous and is full of historical sights. There are museums, art galleries, regular festivals, and so much more. Plus, there are excellent golf courses and luxury beach clubs as well.
The bottom line is there’s something for everyone in Marbella, as long as you’ve had private coronavirus testing for travel.
The Monaco of Spain
As far as holiday destinations go, few can compete with Marbella. The city is even known as the Monaco of Spain thanks to the lavish clubs and luxury feel to everything.
So, whether you’re going for a cultural weekend or to soak up the sun on the beach, there’s bound to be more than enough for you to do.

I had a trip planned to Marbella the end of June but it was cancelled due to COVID-19, since Spain wasn’t allowing US citizens to enter the country. : (
